Productivity doesn't just happen, you have to make it a priority.
Whether you're a stay-at-home mom, an entrepreneur, work from home or just want a more productive life these easy tips are sure to get you started.
1. Get dressed
I know, I know. This sounds like a no-brainer right? Well think again. Its far too easy to stay in your jammies all day, especially if you work from home. And remember, I'm not talking about changing your PJs for sweats and a t-shirt. I mean actually putting an effort into what you put on. Make sure your chosen outfit makes you feel fabulous (even if its jeans)!
Its been proven that simply getting dressed in the morning can significantly improve your daily productivity. Not only does getting dressed create a daily routine for you it also boosts confidence and gets you ready for the job/life you want.
2. Open a window or two
Sunlight is good for you! It helps your body produce Vitamin D, keeps your bones healthy, elevates your mood, inspires happiness and increases energy. Bonus: if your conscious of the world seeing you you'll put more stock in getting dressed.
4. Turn on music
Music is amazing! It brings people together from all walks of life, takes our souls on emotional journeys and empowers us. For the most part, music can also help stimulate productivity. It can keep you energized and improve your mood. But beware, certain types of music have been proven to decrease productivity and concentration.
5. Start with a clean slate
Can't find that pen you need? Maybe there's a book you haven't finished laying on your desk. Perhaps the itinerary for an upcoming trip your super excited about is beckoning you. Clutter (even amazing ones) can lead to distractions and wasted time. Make sure your space is free from ALL distractions by wiping the slate clean every morning before you start or every night before you go to bed. Make this part of your routine.
6. Turn your cell phone off
Again, a no brainer. Cell phones are distracting and you can loose hours using them without even a thought. Its best to turn them off or leave them in a separate room when you're really trying to focus. If your cell phone is a must, try scheduling short (I mean like ten minutes or less) blocks during the day to check it.
7. Stay away from social media
Just like cell phones, social media is a big ol' rabbit hole. You can fall in and wake up hours later not knowing where the time went. The world doesn't need to know what every second of your day looks like and you won't lose touch with the world if you spend a few hours away from social media. Schedule short (again, ten minutes or less) blocks during the day to check it.
8. Make a plan
Its easy to get off track when you don't have a plan or goal, they don't have to be extravagant to be effective but writing it down will do wonders in helping you stay on task.
9. Work less
It's a proven fact that working more hours actually lessens productivity. Did you know that in an eight hour day the average worker is only productive for three of them? That's pretty scary right!
9. Go outside
Take a short stroll through the park, sit for a few minutes in the grass and listen to mother nature, check out the clouds. Stepping outside on a break can do wonders for your energy, creative inspiration and mood. Even if you think you're too busy for a break make it part of your daily routine, your soul will thank you.
10. Get a good night's sleep
Sleep is vital to everything! Sleep deprivation is devastating, mentally, physically, and emotionally. Not sleeping enough leads to difficulty focusing and retaining what you learn. You have less energy, react slower, feel less creative and focused, and have difficulty making decisions and solving problems.
'til next time,
Misty
I'm struggling with productivity at the moment... going to implement all of these- thank you!
