Though reading definitely isn't my favorite pastime, I am a reader. I love immersing myself in a great story, letting other people's thoughts and words inspire my own ideas and experiencing life through someone else's eyes.
I'm also a lifelong learner. I love soaking up knowledge! Reading to me is a sure fire way to bring a new idea, lifestyle change, challenge or concept straight to the forefront of my mind.
Words paint pictures, leaving my mind free to fill in the tiny details and create it's own version of the images.
Recently I read #GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso, founder and CEO of Nasty Gal. Because I love Sophia's sass and go get it attitude I wanted to share some of her insight with my own girl bosses (hello, that's you!).
Right off the bat she hits you with "Life is short, don't be lazy." Does it get any better than that? If only more people felt and thought that way right? The new age is full of lazy, entitled people just sitting around waiting for someone to hand them their silver plater. Best advice ever? Go and get it yourself!
So for my girl bosses who don't really know what that means, Sophia describes it like this "a #GIRLBOSS is someone who's in charge of her own life. She gets what she wants because she works for it. As a #GIRLBOSS, you take control and accept responsibility. You're a fighter- you know when to throw punches and when to roll with them. Sometimes you break the rules, sometimes you follow them, but always on your own terms. You know where you're going, but can't do it without having some fun along the way. You value honesty over perfection. You ask questions. You take your life seriously, but you don't take yourself too seriously. You're going to take over the world and change it in the process. You're a badass".
Sounds like you right? You are a #GIRLBOSS, it's time you own it.
You are powerful. You are creative. You are the past and the future.
Being a woman isn't something you need to overcome, it's something you need to embrace.
As Sophia says "The best way to honor the past and future of women's rights is by getting shit done. Instead of sitting around and talking about how much I care, I'm going to kick ass and prove it."
Be brave, be bold and go get that life you want #GIRLBOSS, you can do it!
'til next time,
Misty
