Figured this was the perfect time to knock out two birds with one stone. I'm so excited to announce that Craft Mixup is hosting a launch party in a couple of weeks! Don't worry I'll drop all the details later. For now, I'd love to share one of the projects we will be making at the party.
I made some really cute mixed media invites to hand out for the party but had extra scraps laying around. I don't like throwing things away, so I found a way to incorporate the leftovers into a quick and easy project for my guests to try out.
The first thing I did was make my invitations. Simply take a piece of cardstock and cover it with gel medium using your favorite stencils. Once it's dry add different acrylic colors in random patterns to your liking. Cut your sheet into 1x5" strips then laminate each one using clear packing tape. Easy right! I made sure to roll my brayer over each strip to give it a nice pressed finish then cut off all the extra tape.
From here you want to cut each strip into five- 1x1" squares. This will be your necklace pendant.
I love collecting rocks and being 5 minutes from the Puget Sound makes it so easy to find some beautiful stones. After polishing, most of the stones become pretty small though and it's hard to find a use for them. I've had quite a collection piling up just waiting for the perfect project to present itself. And here it is!
Pick out your favorite pendants and rocks; using Loctite, glue one rock into the center of each pendant and let dry.
For your final steps poke a small hole in the top of the pendant, add a jump ring and your chain, cording or in my case yarn. It's as easy as that! Hope to see you all at the launch party!
