Balance Through Crafting

As a naturally shy person, working in the retail industry probably wasn't my smartest career choice. I already had an aversion to people and I'd willingly thrown myself into a whole mess of them. The great thing is that doing so forced me out of my shell and I'm no longer as shy as I used to be, most people actually laugh at me when I tell them my nickname used to be Shy.

The draw back of spending so many years in the industry is that it's morphed my shyness into a dislike of the general public. I deal with some of the rudest, most disrespectful, entitled people on a daily basis and they just keep getting worse and worse.

Thankfully my love of crafting has managed to balance out this overwhelming dislike. Crafting has allowed me to connect with some of the most amazing, humble and extremely talented people. It's shown me that there are still beautiful souls in this world even when they seem few and far between. Crafting has opened my life to a community of love and support I will be eternally grateful for.

It's given me the freedom and courage to spread my wings and explore all that I can offer the world. It's shown me the kindness and wonder to be found in others and it's kept me believing in myself and humanity (even against all odds).

Through crafting I've been able to participate in several art exhibits and craft shows this year, things I never saw myself doing. It's a nerve-raking experience putting yourself out there but the rewards are always worth the undertaking. I get to share myself with the world, meet new friends, find new opportunities, grow in my experiences and embrace the general public from a perspective of love rather than dislike.

Crafting has changed my life in more ways than I can describe and I'm eager to continue my journey for years to come.

Til next time,

Misty

P.S. If you'd like to join me and see first hand what it is I love so much, I invite you to come see me for Tidefest, December 2-3 at Gig Harbor High School.
